Jagged Edge TV and Spotlight students were honored by the National Scholastic Press Association last week, when their converged Web site was named a finalist for the prestigious Online Pacemaker Award.
BVWNews.com was among only 13 sites in the country to make the cut in the 1,500 and above enrollment category. BV West’s site was one of only two honored from Kansas.
In its first year of operation, the site combines work from the Broadcasting II and newspaper classes. The monthly Jagged Edge TV newscast is always available on the site, as are Spotlight stories and Web exclusives.
The site was already honored nationally in November at the NSPA convention in Washington, D.C. There, BVWNews.com won fifth place in the Best of Show contest.
Final results of the Online Pacemaker contest will be announced April 17 at the spring NSPA convention in Portland, Ore.
