Wed., April 2 the BV West swim team had their second meet of the season in Osawatomie, Kan. Four other teams attended: Topeka Hayden, Paola, Piper and Parsons.

“Everyone did really well this meet,” Coach Ardy Dehdasht said.

With BV West moving down to 5A, this meet allowed them to compete against teams that they would see at State.  The team and individuals are off to a great start.  During the Osawatomie meet both 200 medley and 400 free relays qualified for State.  Sophomore Alyssa Davis has qualified for State in the 100 back, 100 free and 0 free.  Freshman Mandy Grosdidier has qualified in the 100 fly, 100 breast and has the consideration time in the 50 free.  Freshman Delaney Bredehoeft has qualified in the 100 fly, 100 free, 100 breast and 50 free, and freshman Natalie Xu, has qualified in the 100 back, 100 breast, 200 Individual medley and the 50 free.  Finally, freshman Karlin Lane qualified for the 100 fly.

In addition to those that qualified for State, several swimmers also posted consideration times including senior Abbie Lomonaco,  junior Shayna Southard, sophomores Courtney Schrader and Emily Haas, and freshmen Michelle Schrader and Lexi Goforth. With the meet only being the second of the season there is still plenty of time for swimmers to improve and make their way to State.

Several Lady Jags dropped time and achieved personal bests.  In the end BV West came out on top with a score of 543.  Topeka Hayden was second with 389 and Osawatomie was third with 359.  Great things are ahead for girls swim and dive.
