Q: I just went through a bad breakup… what do I do?

A: Uh-oh. I know from experience that bad breakups definitely aren’t easy, but with experience comes wisdom. Now, I know that you’re probably hurting right now. I don’t know the circumstances, but I am so sorry. I know that sometimes when we think we love someone or when we really like someone we think that it’ll be forever. But, unfortunately it rarely is. There’s a few things you can do to mend your broken heart, but please don’t just jump into another relationship, because if this breakup was recent, then chances are your feelings aren’t gone. The first thing you can do is, just hang out with your friends. Your friends are the best people to be around right now because chances are they’ve been through something similar and would have much better advice than I’m giving. The second thing you can do is, occupy your time. Go to movies, go pick up a new hobby. The third thing might seem a little weird, let yourself be sad. Don’t go around your emotions, go through them. If you try to go around them then you’ll just come back around to them and they’ll be that much harder to deal with. Letting yourself be sad may be the exact opposite of what you want to do, but it’s also something that needs to happen. Sadness is an emotion that needs to be felt. Whether you do any of these options or not, you’ll get through. Your boyfriend/girlfriend maybe just needed some space, and sometimes that space will bring better things. Every relationship is different and every person is different. Breakups happen, and this probably won’t be your last one. This is high school, and however painful it might be now, it won’t matter in 10 years. Stay strong and everything will be okay.

Q: I’m really upset, I got really bad grades this past quarter and I think it’s because of my organization. Help?

A: Ah, organization. It seems to be something a lot of students are having issues with. It’s near the end of the year, papers are flying. It’s difficult stuff, but luckily, I have some tips on how to stay organized.

First, separate all of your stuff by class. It may seem tedious but it really helps. Create different piles for each subject. Then divide them by what you still need, and what you can keep at home until otherwise notified.

Second, it may be a little late for it this year, but get binders for each class. Having everything in one binder can sometimes get out of hand and papers could end up getting mixed up. Also, get a homework folder. Put the homework you still have to do on one side, and the homework you still have to turn in on the other.

Third, clean out your locker of anything you don’t need. I recently did that and it helped a lot. Really staying organized is easy. You just have to remember to keep cleaning out your stuff and getting rid of the stuff you don’t need. Hope this helped.
