Director Thomas Gale looks through the view finder during filming.  Gale came to BV West to recruit students and teachers for his film.  He knew theater teacher Laurie Vanderpol and she suggested he come to our school to find talent.

 

Actors Techies

English teacher Kim Rager talks to seniors Logan Cole and Ashley Oades about their jobs on set. Rager looked the part of an attorney but also retained her persona as a teacher.  “Rager was so fun,” Cole said.  It was cool to see that she was such a good actress.”

 

Behind the ScenesTransforming the Fine Arts Hallway into a movie set was done over Spring Break by the professional crew on March 14.  The student cast and crew joined them over the next week and helped with everything from lights, to refreshments, to temperature control.

Actors Acting

Professional actor Daniel Dean stays reacts as his character in a courtroom scene.  Dean was the antagonist in the movie and kept a stern look even when he was walking around the set.

 

Camera ShotsDouble take.  The BV West students were allowed to use the professional motion pictures cameras to help film scenes.  The experience of being treated as a professional and using the expensive equipment was a unique experience.

Recognizable

Commercial actor and Kansas City native David Fritz was cast as the judge in the movie.  Fritz has had a busy career as a professional actor in a smaller market.  Audiences have come to expect to see him on stage at The Rep and The Unicorn.

Senior Delaney Brewer smiles in-between takes. The repetition of doing scenes over and over again was a unique experience for the novice movie actors.  “I can’t believe we got this opportunity,” Brewer said. “So, yea, I have a movie credit on my resume now; BOOM.”
