Strangers Thing 2 Review

On Friday, Oct. 27, Netflix released all nine episodes of Stranger Things 2. This new season was everything fans hoped for and more. Episode one starts off just before Halloween of 1984 as Mike, Lucas, Dustin and Will are trying to go on with their lives after the events of last season. Mike desperately misses his friend (and maybe more than that?), Eleven who has been missing since she disappeared at the end of season one. Dustin and Lucas meet a new girl at their school, Max, who is topping all their high scores at the local arcade. Will however, is faring the worst. His mind flips back and forth between the Upside Down and the real world, and he is seeing this giant multi-legged monster that becomes the main villain for this season two.

Joyce, Will’s mother, constantly worries about her son. She knows he is struggling and does everything she can do to make his life normal again. She begins dating Bob Newby, a textbook definition dorky nerd. Bob starts to become a father figure to Will and his brother Jonathan and is great role model, particularly for Will.

At the end of season one, the love triangle with Jonathan, Steve and Nancy, Mike’s sister, clearly ends up with Nancy siding with Steve and just remaining friends with Jonathan. However after some events at the beginning of season two, the triangle seems like it could go either way again.

As for Eleven, she is still in the real world and she is staying with Hopper, Hawkin’s Police Chief. They make for a very interesting father and daughter dynamic that is more tumultuous than it is supportive or loving. Hopper has kept Eleven in a cabin since last season and brings her food and tries to teach her new words among other things.

Stranger Things 2 sets the scene for a larger scale, even more frightening stage, that does not fail to keep viewers at the edge of their scene. New friendships are built, some are broken, and loved ones are lost. Season two surpasses any expectations and is definitely worth the time.
