With the highly anticipated movie ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ approaching us, one of the stars who’s been in eight movies has announced that he will not be returning after the unnamed sequel to Infinity War.
Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America, has been a long time character in the Marvel Universe and has been played by numerous actors over the years. Since 2011 he has been played by Chris Evans in stand-alone movies and in the Avengers series.
Evans stated in a recent New York Times interview that he will not be returning as Rogers after the 2019 film. Some fans have considered that Captain America will die in one of the upcoming films. His announcement of retirement from the role has only added fuel to the fire.
However, this announcement of retirement from the future films could just lead to a re-casting of the role. How he revealed that he was stepping down from playing the character anymore could be viewed in different ways.
Evans was quoted saying, “You want to get off the train before they push you off.”
What he could be insinuating is that he is leaving before the company got the opportunity to boot him themselves.
His reasoning for leaving could be for many things. What we do know is that he is set to play ‘Bill’ on the upcoming Broadway musical, Lobby Hero.
