Senior Kylee Odgers and actress Chloë Grace Moretz spend the day together at Disneyland in California on May 22.

This past May, senior Kylee Odgers got the opportunity to spend the day with Chloë Grace Moretz at Disneyland through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

At the time of her heart transplant in St. Louis, the nurses contacted Make-A-Wish, a non-profit organization that organizes opportunities for children with life-threatening conditions. Odgers and her family were then contacted by the foundation.

“I found out a couple days after my heart transplant,” Odgers said.

Odgers chose Chloë Grace Moretz for two main reasons.

“I really like her movies and she’s inspirational,” Odgers said.

Over the course of the day, they had the whole Disneyland experience, from riding the rides to eating the food to taking goofy pictures (as seen on both girls’ Instagrams).

The duo were accompanied by Kylee’s sister, her mom and dad, as well as Chloë’s brother.

“She’s the sweetest person I have ever met in my life,” Odgers said of Moretz. “Her and her brother are the sweetest people. She’s so funny.”

At the end of the day, both girls posted pictures on Instagram of their day together and thanked each other for such a memorable experience.

“Today was a day I will never forget,” Moretz wrote. “Kylee, you choosing me to be your @makeawishamerica is the greatest honor I’ll ever be given. Spending an entire day, running around with you and your wonderful family, eating ice cream and being silly, reminded me of the light we have in this world. And how a 17 (soon to be 18!!!!) year old girl is more badass than anyone could imagine. You are a shining beacon in a world that can be so dark…never forget how wonderful you are thank you, from the bottom of my heart. And a special thanks to Make-A-Wish Foundation for helping us come together and going above and beyond. (And to Kylee’s kind mother, father and sister. Family is everything, I commend and admire you all.)”

Since then, the girls have still remained in contact with each other.

“We DM each other sometimes,” Odgers said. “She’s been busy, she’s been in Dublin lately. She’ll be there until November working on a movie.”

For a person who has endured a lot in a mere 18 years, Kylee’s strength and perseverance has shone through. Thanks to the opportunity provided by Make-A-Wish, both Odgers and Moretz have gained a meaningful connection that continues to positively impact both girls.
