The Class of 2017 started a week-long series of rituals with the Senior Picnic on Friday, May 5 at Black Bob Park in Olathe. Updates to the event included a later start time of 10:30 a.m., snow cones from Cool Off Shaved Ice and lunch. The tradition of distributing yearbooks as the cornerstone of the event continued.

The 2017 Illumination included 384 pages full-color pages. The yearbook employed augmented reality with the use of Aurasma. Readers with the Smartphone app could hover their phones over glossy photos and view slide shows and videos. The senior books were black, their class color, while the underclassmen received silver books.
