A twenty-dollar bill is not a rare sight to come across in the Johnson County Bubble but it is generally a given to start a weekend off right. The BV West Newspaper staff was presented with a question; what is the best way to spend $20? There are endless possibilities to this riddling inquiry but which option reigns king?
When I think about kicking off a great Friday afternoon with a crisp Andrew Jackson the first thing that comes to mind is grabbing some grub. My personal favorite is to hit up some McDonald’s.
Two McChickens, a medium fry, a large drink and some honey mustard run for just a few bucks. Not too bad for a meal with all the main food groups: sweet, salty, greasy and delicious.
Once the food has been accomplished you have to find some sort of entertainment. Something crazy, something… Original. The most original and overall best way to spend the rest of the twenty dollars is to wait for the middle of summer and blow it on one ride from the Ripcord at Worlds of Fun (granted you have three friends to split the cost with). That ride is hands down the greatest invention to mankind. The sight of being 189 feet in the air and dropping at a speed of 80 mph stimulates every fiber of the human body to unimaginable heights. It’s a feeling of freefalling until a cord snags you up like a spider hanging from its web.
Since it is winter (and most kids could not wait a few months to spend $20) the Ripcord may not be the best thing. Sadly, there really isn’t anything that is reckless, original, and fun (also legal) to do in the winter with $20. My advice on how to spend your money would probably have to be to leave it in a bank for a year until you’ve collected enough interest to indulge in some sweet Snow Creek shred time.
In the end it is ultimately up to you, the readers, to decide the fate of your hard earned (or inherited) cash.
