Valentines day, also known by some as Singles Awareness Day (S.A.D.), was yesterday and there were too many people who were just down right pessimistic. Valentines Day does have a general connotation of being only for romantic couples but I think that is far from the case. Valentines Day is supposed to be a holiday of celebrating love, whether that love is for a boyfriend or girlfriend or even a family member!
Why there are single people out there who can’t enjoy Valentines Day just because they are single is ridiculous. Not to mention that there are going to be so many more Valentines Days in their life and they are not going to be in a relationship for every single one. People have their right to be depressed I suppose, but why someone would waste so much energy on hating one specific day, is beyond my understanding. Not everyone hates it and it really isn’t necessary for those people who do to slink around and ruin it for everyone else. No one likes Scrooge, so don’t be a Valentines Day Scrooge.
Girls tend to get jealous of all the nice stuff that other girls get, thus leading to the hate of Valentines Day. It is logical to be wishing to have someone to spend Valentines Day with but just because you don’t does not mean moping is acceptable. There are so many other people to share the day with, like family, friends, or even some candy and a night watching T.V. If it really is impossible for you to be happy on Valentines Day, the least you could do is ignore it and stop complaining. It’s a day where people get the chance to show their love and appreciation to other, it shouldn’t be ruined for everyone else.
Also, for everyone that thinks I must be in a relationship so I couldn’t possibly understand, I am single. Not only am I single, but also I was happy on Valentines Day. It’s possible.
