Study Tips

As we all know, finals are coming up next week. All the coffee in the world could never amount to the stress of studying for these nightmare-like exams. That, my dear peers, is why I am here.

Like real estate, location is very important. Trying to study in a place that is loud and busy will get you distracted and you will not focus on the topic in front of you. Try studying in your room, with brighter lighting so you don’t fall asleep. If you have a lot of family at your house, try going to a coffee shop/library. Coffee shops are a perfect two in one deal. Getting coffee and getting your mind working is the key to finals.

Staying on the same subject the entire can tire out your brain and it will get all mushed together in a big ball of information. Try switching the subject you are studying, especially if you have been studying a harder subject. Try spending a half hour studying on something harder, then spend 20 or so minutes studying for the class you are doing well in.

Studying with friends can either be really good, or really distracting. However, study groups are very helpful especially if they are in the same class as you. Your study buddies will encourage you to focus on studying and share out information you have retained during the semester.

Food is such a beautiful thing, the only bad thing is we have so many choices when we’re studying. On one end we can eat the junk food and candy, or we can eat fruit. Both are decent choices while you are studying and really can help you.

Sleep is NOT for the weak. Sleep is so important while studying for finals. It is understandable that you want to stay up all night and study for the ominous tests ahead of you.

I know studying is a tedious and annoying process, but with finals, it is almost crucial. So, happy finals week Jaguars, and may the grades be ever in your favor.
