The BV West cheerleading squad will take a routine to competition at Mill Valley High School between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13. This will be the second time that the squad has attended this competition.
All three teams, varsity, junior varsity, and freshman, will compete together, combining tumbling, stunting, and dancing to a mix of popular songs. Senior cheerleading captains, Kara David, Jasmine Johnson, Morgan Fischer, and Allie Klaus, choreographed the routine. The team will be competing with other squads and dance teams from the Kansas City area.
The squad has been practicing for this competition since September, and hopes to do well, as this is the only competition that they attend during the season. The team practices their routine during their first hour class and at before- and after-school rehearsals.
The squads are scored on a 0-100 point scale by a panel of judges ranging from owners of competitive gyms to Chiefs Cheerleaders. Points are awarded for precision, choreography, fundamentals, projection, and overall appeal.
