Royals Season Preview

The Kansas City Royals are rolling into the 2015 Major League Baseball (MLB) season on all cylinders coming off one of the most improbable post-season runs in MLB History. During the offseason, Royals general manager Dayton Moore acquired a number of players to amp up the offense as well as some pitchers to improve the defense. The Royals lost star-studded pitcher James Shields to the San Diego Padres during the offseason to free agency due to his giant price tag. The Royals added some quality pitchers to replace James Shields including Edinson Volquez, Kris Medlen, and Chris Young. With the loss of long time Royal Billy Butler to the Oakland Athletics in free agency this offseason, The Royals had to find some bats to revamp the power in the offense. The Royals acquired outfielder Alex Rios and designated hitter Kendrys Morales who look to get the Royals off to a solid start to their 2015 campaign. The Royals are hoping for big years from first baseman Eric Hosmer and third baseman Mike Moustakas after teeing off during the playoffs last year.The Royals were able to retain their lights out bullpen in Kelvin Herrera, Wade Davis, and Greg Holland. The Royals showed their winning formula in the playoffs last season with incredible base running and a shut down bullpen.The Royals are looking to be back in the playoffs this year and hope to get back to the World Series, where they just fell short of winning their second title and first since 1985.
