The New Harry Potter Books
September 26, 2017
On June 26, 1997, J.K. Rowling released the Harry Potter books to the world. It was the beginning of a huge franchise, full of movies, merchandise and theme parks. The series left people excited and hungry for more.
Now, 20 years later in the fall of 2017, there will be two new additions to the beloved series. These new books will be released on Oct. 20, for an exhibition at the British Library, which opens the same day.
However, do not get too excited. These books are not a continuation of the series, rather textbooks taken from Hogwarts. These new books were actually not even written by Rowling. They were written, instead, by a collaborating publisher on the Harry Potter project.
The books are called “Harry Potter: A History of Magic” which is described as a more adult-level book that takes the reader through the history of Hogwarts. The book also provides exclusive sketches from the Harry Potter series. The second book, “Harry Potter: A Journey Through a History of Magic”, resembles a children’s book which talks about subjects offered at Hogwarts such as alchemy, unicorns and ancient witchcraft.
While they may not be a continuation of the storyline, picking up these books could still take you back to the magical wizarding world that is precious to so many people.
