While most students will be falling asleep or struggling to finish homework tonight, the BV West Jaguar Band will be departing for Winter Park, Co. at midnight. They will travel all night and will reach Aurora, Co. around 10 a.m. the following day.
The band will be traveling to Granby, Co. for the Winter Park Music Festival, which will be held Friday, March 30. Students will play that morning with other bands from across the country and will then ski later that afternoon.
Many band students have never skied before, but only a few are nervous about taking on the new venture. The students are actually more nervous about not being able to ski because of the low snow count over the past season. In the past 72 hours, there has been 0.0” of snow, and in the past few weeks as a total, it has hardly snowed at all.
For Winter Park, it has been a hard season of low-snowfall with only 173.5” of snow over the past winter months.
Although the snow count has been low, it does not bring down the band spirit.
“[I would feel] a bit sad, but I’ll adjust,” senior flute-player Phoebe Kim said. “I’ll just deal with whatever comes my way.”
Snow or no snow, the band plans to continue with the trip and make the best of it as a finish to their year of successes.

Have fun and be safe. Thanks to all of the yearbook staffers on the trip that made the effort to finish their spreads early! DSG
