Mask Mandate: Updated Policy to Start Nov 29
on Nov 8, The Blue Valley School District updated its mask policy; now, after Nov 29, masks will be optional.
November 10, 2021
On November 8, 2021, the Blue Valley Board of Education voted 6-1, making masks optional for all high schoolers, including staff and visitors. This will begin on November 29, 2021, which is when Blue Valley students and staff will return from Thanksgiving break. Masks will still be required on school buses and other district vehicles, and they’ll also still be required for grades K-8.
The board has made this decision as a result of the decreasing spread of COVID-19 in BV schools and in the community, along with the increasing rate of vaccinations.
In order for masks to remain optional, the total percentage of positive cases of COVID-19 must remain below 3%. If cases do rise above 3%, masks will be required for a minimum of two weeks.
