Fortunately, today is quite a special day for many people who were born on February 29. This day only comes every four years and it is oddly celebrated. While it may spread confusion to others who don’t understand the reason why some adults are only 9 years old, there is a reason behind that.
As a nation, we follow the Gregorian Calendar, while some other countries follow other types of calendars for reasons such as religious views. Each year is composed of 365.2422 days, not just 365 days. For leap year, it’s different and it is uncommonly composed of 366 days due to substituting for the lack of losing six hours. This year comes every four years, and unfortunately, the next one wont be coming anytime soon until 2016.
The criteria to be met as a Leap Year is composed of three steps.
1.A year has to be evenly divisible by 4. (Since it comes every four years)
2.It cannot be evenly divisible by 100.
3.But if it is evenly divisible by 100 and 400, then it is a Leap Year.
Since today is February 29, it is known as the intercalary day or leap day: an added day. Millions of people are celebrating their authentic birthday and it’s distinctive from ordinary birthdays. A fair amount of people who were born on this day usually celebrates it on February 28 or March 1. Today is the exception for many.
However, because someone could be turning 9 years old on this day, does not technically mean that they are actually 9 years old. If multiplied by 4, they’re actually 36 years old and it can also be shown in their physical features.
This day comes every once in a while, so be sure to make this day special for you, or for a certain someone! Be creative with ideas because they were the 1 in 1,461 to have the chance to be born on this peculiar day.
