New Schedule Changes

BV West has experienced some major changes this school year, a significant one being the daily schedule.

Not only was the new JAG time implemented at the beginning of the semester, but after Thanksgiving break a new addition was added. Late arrival now takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and class begins at 8:30 A.M. This shortens the normally longer JAG time on Tuesday, and adds an advisory on Thursday.

Students have been very vocal about their opinion on the schedule change, sophomore Josh Dunlay included.

“I don’t like the new schedule because ACU is a waste of time,” Dunlay said. “You can’t make people do their homework or check their grades just because you cram them into a room. I never do anything during ACU, so having it twice a week is pointless.”

Though advisory is meant to give time for the freshmen to receive mentor lessons as well as have teachers check on students’s grades, those not in the freshmen class can tend to see the time as useless.

The new schedule is only a trial run for now, and will not permanently be implemented unless decided on in second semester. Overall, the schedule has undergone many changes, but it is all to benefit the student body and make the most out of the school day.
