Everybody has their own opinions, some more than others. Some base their opinions on facts, and some just straight up base their opinions on what they think themselves. On many controversial issues, there are many different opinions. Today, a major controversy in the United States and in many other countries is racism. People used to think just because your skin was a different color, it meant that you had to act a certain way, and be restricted from certain rights.
Racism used to be an even bigger issue in the United States when African American and White citizens were separated by schools, shops, restaurants, and buses. People say “Let the past be the past” and to think about where it got us today. As I walk around today I hear it. I hear it on the television and I hear it in other sorts of media. Do you know what I hear? I hear racism, in its loudest melody. Sure, we have come a long and better way from slaves and such, but really? We are still far from treating people equally.
Some kids take the past as a joke, and that is where the racism starts back up again: from one little comment to hurting someone and their life.
What I have never understood is this: we all know it is wrong, we all have a voice, so why do we not do anything about it?
Racism and prejudice come in many forms, will you be the shape shifter? Think about it.
