Parking Lot Grievances

School ends at 2:50 pm, but most students who attend Blue Valley West agree that they don’t end up getting home until around 3:20. Often times, these students live five minutes away from the school.  “Our parking lot here at West is somewhat equivalent to a zoo,” says freshman Hannah Engelken.

Most kids are literally running out of the school, skipping any locker trips they need, just in order to beat the after school traffic. Many students would agree with the fact that there are just too many kids and only two exits. Sophomore, Abby Skram said, “If everyone actually followed the law and turned where they were supposed to, then some clutter could be avoided.” Due to the traffic, “people are late for practices and picking up their siblings.”

A solution could be made to the chaotic West parking lot, and it starts with obeying simple laws. Two drivers here at West, sophomore Abby Skram and senior, Katie Lenson, both agree that students should obey the turning rules at all times. When kids turn illegally, they don’t get in trouble, they just cause more issues for others. If all students can agree to follow rules, then maybe there will be a noticeable difference in the time taken to get out of school everyday.
