Band Takes on Washington D.C.

March 3 -7 The Pride of BV West (band program) Traveled to Washington, D.C.

A Photo Diary of the 2018 Band Trip

March 3-
Band students gathered at KCI.

In a few short hours, they found themselves in the nation’s capital.

The musicians shared a meal at Lauriol Plaza.

and took photos in the Hall of Nations.

They ended their evening by attending a performance by the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center.

March 4-
Band students boarded the busses to watch the changing of the guard and visit Arlington National Cemetery.

Students gathered in the visitor center for group photos before leaving for the Kennedy Center.


Students rehearsed and performed their prepared repertoire. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble’s trumpet section was joined by BVW Alum, Chris Larios.


Following the performance, the students gathered for a group photo…. or ten.

March 5-
Students split up into museum groups to visit the Smithsonian. In the morning, some students elected to attend the Hirshorn Art Museum.

After visiting the museums, students walked down the National Mall to see the national monuments.

The band continued down the National Mall and visited the WWII and Korean War memorials.

Finally, they reached the Lincoln Memorial.

March 6-
Band students visited the Air and Space Museum at The Smithsonian. 

After the Air and Space Museum, the group traveled to the U.S. Capitol Building and enjoyed a guided tour.

Band students finished their evening with a talent show.

Chaperones presented memorable awards to every student.

March 7-
Students attended a rehearsal of the U.S. Army Band.

After lunch, students gathered in a park before departing for the airport to return home.
