 March 30

The Jaguar Percussion Groups worked together to host an area percussion festival. The one-of-a-kind event drew musicians from Topeka, Lawrence, Olathe, Shawnee Mission and the Blue Valley high schools.

Clinicians from the University of Kansas, Michael Compitello, the Kansas City Percussion Group, Jeff Hewitt, and Taiwan, Fofo Jackson each worked with the musicians to improve their sound.

To open the festival the groups joined together to perform their large group piece, “Homer,” showcasing all members of the JPG.

The students worked to make sure the festival ran as smoothly as possible.

Freshmen Cooper Knight and Joseph Cheng, and sophomore Sophie Bowersock completed the evening with a performance and critique of their small ensemble piece, “Trio Per Uno.” The music played at the event was all college-level percussion compositions.
